LIGHT TO UNITE

In a powerful tribute to our nation’s enduring spirit, the National Flag Foundation (NFF) makes a call for national unity, illuminating our U.S. Flag and our nation. We have launched a stirring national movement known as “Light to Unite.”

As America approaches its 250th birthday, the NFF is calling on Americans to rise in a resounding display of unity and patriotism. “Light to Unite” is more than a campaign—it is a rallying cry for all Americans to fly the Stars and Stripes with pride on July 4, 2026. And, as night falls across the nation, citizens are encouraged to light up buildings and landmarks in red, white, and blue. From the heart of bustling cities to the quiet streets of small towns, the vision is bold: a nation aglow, not just in color, but in shared mission and remembrance. These lights will symbolize our past sacrifices, our present resilience, and our unwavering hope for the future.

In this historic moment, “Light to Unite” invites us all to stand together—one flag, one nation, under God.

THE ASK

The NFF asks all American cities, to the extent possible, to light red, white, and blue as a national evening of unity to celebrate our nation’s 250th Birthday. The NFF also seeks to unify our country in these historically divisive times by asking all Americans to fly an American Flag on July 4, 2026. The NFF’s website will provide a link for US Flags and more about the NFF.

*The NFF’s Mission: To educate and celebrate the American Flag and to honor those who serve to protect it.
