SOJOURN 250

As America marches toward its Semiquincentennial on July 4, 2026, the National Flag Foundation (NFF) unveils a moving and majestic tribute to our Flag, our nation and our citizens: Sojourn to 250.

This extraordinary initiative is more than a journey — it is a solemn Sojourn. Sojourn 250 is a global traveling flag campaign created to honor not just our nation’s most prized symbol, but all of our countrymen and women including those who have given their lives in service to the ideals The Flag represents.

The odyssey begins on Flag Day, June 14, 2025, with a humble yet poignant ceremony hosted by the Vietnam Veterans of America. In this reverent moment, the NFF will present an American Flag to representatives of the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC), launching a year-long voyage that will stir the hearts of a nation.

The Flag will begin its journey abroad to distant shores where our soldiers and others who gave their lives in our war efforts are buried, touching all 26 U.S. military cemeteries in ten countries.

Thereafter, The Flag will be returned to America. It will then, with the help of The National Sheriffs’ Association, be carried with reverence on a domestic passage across our country to further its storied path. Concluding its travel on Independence Day, July 4, 2026, The Flag will be returned to our nation’s Capital and formally presented to the America 250th Committee. It will be raised in the heart of our nation as a final salute to national unity and the American Spirit.

Every mile of this historic sojourn can be followed by Americans on the NFF’s website via unique geo-spatial interactive maps, photos, videos and personal narratives starting in October 2025. The online experience calls visitors to the NFF website to bear witness to this remarkable journey of honor and unity.

This is not just a journey of a Flag—it is a journey of the American Spirit.
